You blow my mind: Medusa Myth
Exhibition info
Series "Me dejas de piedra - Mito Medusa". 2022- Current (in progress)
Life's fluctuations, sometimes wild, sometimes surprising, can lead us to states of bewilderment that often prevent us from overcoming a situation of rupture in our environment. The sudden change from a situation of power to one of exclusion can lead to panic reactions that prevent any response and lead to disaster. The Myth of Medusa accurately captures the rawness of collapse in the face of such sudden upheavals.
The series is developed on small-format square canvases using different techniques and materials. The disparate mutilated heads allow for limitless creativity in terms of expressiveness, imagination and creativity without determining restrictions, except those concerning subject matter and format.
Artist biography
JAVIER DE LA HIGUERA - Madrid - July 1954
A visual artist by birth whose professional life has been spent in the arid world of technology, despite which he has constantly returned to his true vocation, for short periods of time, during which he has matured his pictorial personality to finally devote his time to developing his inner world.
His professional career really began in 2013, when he set up his first studio and dedicated himself exclusively to painting. Until 2015 he evolves rapidly and builds a very marked personal world, emerging abroad with his first solo exhibition that same year. The evolution continues with several group exhibitions and in 2018 he becomes part of the community of artists of Zapadores Ciudad del Arte, where he moves his studio and begins an exhaustive professional development.
In his work he fuses the real with the incorporeal, transforming it through a personal sieve. The abstract coexists with the real in a natural and fluid way. However, the real does not remain unaltered and free of impurities and sometimes even appears in the background or directly crossed out or deformed by lines and strokes that submerge it in the unreal like a non-human umbilical cord. He groups these paths into independent series that complement and evolve in such a way that they compose small fragments of the permanently unfinished puzzle of his pictorial universe. With them, he aims to explore different ways of approaching artistic creation, while maintaining his own personality reflected in his work.
In 2021 he held a new solo exhibition based on his latest series to date, "Revisiting History", which marked a turning point in his career. The technique, the use of colour and the use of different trends in the same work give a new perspective to his evolution. From this moment on, a new range of possibilities opens up, which we will be able to discover in the near future.
