OD Hotels is proud of the collaboration between our hotel Ocean Drive Sevilla and the illustration project The Sevillaner, activating our brand territory and creating a local community.
A project born out of love for the city of Seville and a tribute to The New Yorker, where we have joined forces with illustrator Ulises Fernández to develop this project that is so special to us.
The postcard created presents the Sevillana that reimagines tradition with a contemporary vision that fuses the contrasts of day and night to tell a timeless story of Seville. Each painting is a souvenir that captures the essence and emblematic details of the city. The protagonist is dressed in the night, her dark hair merging with the stars, while the day unfolds full of light and vibrant colours.
At his side, Curro symbolises flamenco duende. His beer, an essential element of Sevillian social life, shines golden among orange and orange blossom trees. The stars in the sky add a dreamy touch, celebrating the harmony between tradition and modernity in Seville, where the Ocean Drive Sevilla hotel is located in Las Setas.
To promote this initiative, during the opening party held on 21 November, 150 posters were given away among the attendees.
The driving force behind this initiative is the Sevillian illustrator Antonio Copete, when in a typography and layout class he was asked to create a fictitious magazine. This union arose with the aim of creating a community of artists and supporting art, creating covers like the one we present below, which are currently being produced in other cities around the world.
The intention and work of this project is to raise awareness of these works by taking them to the street and to the general public through various media: dissemination on social networks, press and blogs, radio, sale of products in different spaces, and collective exhibitions in exhibition halls and restaurants.
